I owe you my "cool"...

Dear MJ,

Today when I think of you gone... and think of you in general, I cant help but smile and shake my head..

You know what you remind me of... ?
You remind me of my very young days when I was a kid and growing up in India, my "cool thing" was that I was a "Michael Jackson fan"!
Family and friends alike, were in awe, cause first of all, I liked YOU and to top it, I used to "understand" what you sing... !!! Even in some of your (then considered) confusing lyrical pronunciations...!!

:)
So you have been my "cool" personified and in fact my very first favorite "Amrikan" (American) singer! I remember searching the local stores for your cassettes (yes, it wasn't a CD era yet in India) and I remember owning the album titled "HISTORY" , distinctly , amongst many others....

I listened to it all the time in my walkman...rewinding the songs I liked...and trying to dance like you in front of the mirror!! :)

And then at some point of time, I saw a video of you when you were a black guy and a video when you were white.
I got scared and confused and asked Dad what that meant ... were there two MJs and who's fan was I?
:D
Thats when I knew about your brave move of the plastic surgery...! I never had a chance to say this literally to anyone.. or even out loud...but I just wanna say I liked you more when you were black...
No, really...
:)

I dont think anyone would ever know the real reason that pushed a beautiful black (African american for some ;)) boy like you to undergo that surgery. I do wish I could meet and ask you that...but now that is not gonna happen..
You are taking that part and all of your other controversies, confirmed or not, to the grave with you..

But take this small 'Thankyou '.... from a gal who has always been your secret admirer...for you work...your music.
Thank you for your songs like "You are not alone" especially... it did heal me in a way through a bad phase when I was a kid.....
:)
Thank you for all the fun songs too... that made me stand out and gave me the label of a really "cool gal"....

And yes, there never will be a greater legend or better dancer...
Tonight I will pray for your soul...

Goodbye, MJ!

it was soo true the article is almost a replica to my relationship with MJ i was this crazy little fan who owned his "cassettes" like trophies.... no one after him has captured the mass imagination of people all over the world..!

isnt it strange to thnk that the media is celebrating him now while he was ridiculed when he was alive!
